We are happy to announce that the American Kennel Club (AKC) has accepted the Carolina Dog as a Foundation Service Breed (FSS).
What does this mean?
Well, it means that Carolina Dogs with known or approved parentage will begin being listed with their registry. It means that dogs in their registry will be allowed to compete in Open shows in Conformation. Altered Carolina Dogs will be listed with a Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL). Others with undetermined or unconfirmed genetics may be listed with an Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP).
This is the first step in becoming a fully recognized breed by the AKC.
Today, FSS, tomorrow, Westminster!
